Monday Off!

Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr day so everyone except poor Devin, had the day off! What do you do when everyone's off and the weather's nice? Why, go to the zoo and then have a cook-out of course! By the way, I know what you're thinking...it's mid January, but remember we live in Texas friends, so the weather yesterday was sunny (a bit windy) but the high got up to almost 70!

Here are some fun pics from our zoo trip!

How cute is this aqua family!

They have a little train that drives you around the zoo for about 10-15 minutes. Of course Aikman loves it, so he always has to ride.

There is a concrete pier that you can walk out on over the lake. They also have these little pellets you can buy for a quarter to feed the ducks and catfish.

It's tough to see but above are the catfish. They literally swarm to the food and you get to witness a feeding frenzy!

This is the train coming at us from far-away.

 That's a real-life cobra above! I share Aikman's sentiment upon viewing it - "ewww!"

After the zoo we decided to go by and visit my dad's grave. His birthday was Sunday, so we were celebrating him today.

After the cemetery, we went home for a quick nap and then everyone came over to our house around 3:30 for dinner! We grilled hamburgers and sausage and had all the fixings! We even made a carrot-cake in honor of my dad, since it was his favorite. Unfortunately I was too busy eating and neglected to get any pics of the food, but trust me it was goooood!

How cruel to post these pictures when certain others of us are having snow showers and it's a bone-chilling 20 degrees outside! What a blessing to wear short sleeves and have cookouts in January. I'll have to go out and shovel for the second time this week--arghh! My children are loving it, though.
